Busy Comet [1]

The Rosetta spacecraft snapped this sequence of images of Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko on August 12, just hours before the comet reached its closest point to the Sun. The images show gas and dust streaming into space from the comet's surface, with a big outburst of material near the middle of the sequence. Rosetta was less than 200 miles from the comet.
