Dark Ripples [1]

Two black holes near the final stages of a merger in this NASA simulation, producing ripples in the universe known as gravitational waves. A special observatory made the first direct discovery of gravitational waves earlier this year, and has reported a second event in the ensuing months. Merging black holes are heavy, compact, and fast, so they are especially proficient at creating such ripples. [NASA/ARC/C.Henze]
