4,999 and Counting [1]

The Opportunity rover snapped this picture of sunrise on Mars on February 16, 2018. On February 17, it will see its 5,000th sunrise on the Red Planet. Opportunity landed on Mars on January 24, 2005, and has driven more than 28 miles (45 km) across the Martian surface. It currently is visiting Endeavour Crater. The picture, which was heavily processed, was compiled from three images taken through different filters to approximate true color. [NASA/JPL/Cornell/Arizona State/Texas A&M]
