New Observatory [1]

Cincinnati Observatory, the first public observatory in the United States, was dedicated on November 9, 1843. In his last public speech, former president John Quincy Adams extolled the virtues of science and the new observatory. In his honor, Cincinnati renamed the hill on which the observatory stood Mount Adams. The observatory operated there for three decades. [Cincinnati Observatory]
