Double Giant [1]

The Moon will pass by Spica, the brightest star of Virgo, on the night of June 12. Spica actually consists of two giant stars that are quite close together. The gravity of each star pulls at the other, so both stars "bulge" toward the other. The bigger and heavier of the two stars is likely to end its life as a supernova.
