Blowing Bubbles [1]

The Sun blows a giant "bubble" of hot gas in this recently released set of images from a Sun-watching spacecraft. The bubble expanded to many times the Sun's size, and hot gas raced through the solar system at more than one million miles per hour. The bubble grazed Earth, causing some bright auroras, but didn't damage satellites or cause other mischief. [NOAA]
