Thin Rings [1]

Viewed edge-on, Saturn's beautiful rings form a thin horizontal line in this image from the Cassini spacecraft. The rings span almost 200,000 miles, but for most of that distance they are no more than a few dozen feet thick. The rings cast shadows on Saturn's atmosphere at the top of the image.
