A pair of spiral galaxies are mixing it up in this recent image from the Gemini South telescope. Collectively known as NGC 7727, the galaxies began their cosmic dance a billion years ago. The interactions have pulled huge streamers of stars and gas away from the galaxies, and triggered the birth of millions of new stars.
