Dusty Skies

Giant dust storms swirl across the northern hemisphere of Mars in this recent view from Hope, an orbiter from the United Arab Emirates that's monitoring the Martian weather. The storms form a light brown streak just below the north polar ice cap as well as patches farther to the south, near Olympus Mons, a giant volcano that forms the most prominent geographic feature in the image. In addition, clouds of water ice hover above other large volcanoes to the lower right of Olympus Mons, in a region known as Tharsis Ridge. [Hope Mission/UAE]
