Sky Highlights
Magnificent Orion shines at its best on January and February evenings. It stands high in the south in late evening early in the period and remains in view almost all night, and is highest in the south at nightfall by late February. Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, trots below and behind the hunter. Jupiter is the brightest planet in the evening sky, outshining even Sirius, while Venus, the brightest dot of light in all the night sky, drops lower in the dawn, disappearing by February’s end.
