Edwin Hubble takes a peek through the 100-inch telescope at Mount Wilson Observatory in California, which took its first look at the universe on November 2, 1917. Hubble used the telescope to discover that the universe extends far beyond the bounds of the Milky Way Galaxy, and that the universe is expanding.
