Jumbled Stars
Featured on April 18, 2020
A simulation shows the orbits of stars that pass close to Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. Observations of one of the stars, named S2, which completes one orbit every 16 years, show that the orbit is being deflected by the black hole's gravity just as predicted by Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity.
